Downtown Columbia Engagement Session

This sunny engagement session has quickly become a favorite of the season. As photographers, we often prefer soft lighting in the early morning or evening, but I love how this sun-filled session turned out. It's the perfect example of trusting your photographer and going with the flow of the day.

Carrie and Andrew wanted the State House grounds as their backdrop for part one of their engagement session. We all loved the gorgeous marble columns and the access to the pretty garden on the property. It's one of my favorite downtown Columbia spots for engagement sessions. I always love how easy it feels being able to create such a gorgeous mix of images in a tiny area. Even throughout this part of the session, the sun really showed out for us!

Sunny Rooftop Engagement Session

For the second part of their session, we made our way to one of my favorite rooftop spots for sunset. Typically for rooftop sessions, we will schedule things for later in the day, but due to time constraints, we made it work, and I'm so glad we did! I instantly fell in love with these glowy portraits, and we had the most fun!

While it isn't always our first choice to shoot in full sun, sometimes it's just the right amount of magic and adds a little something special to a session.

I also loved the wardrobe change for this part of the session. Carrie chose an adorable blue floral print dress. It was just the right amount of flirty for their rooftop session. Andrew kept it casual in light-wash jeans and a button-down, and they complimented each other perfectly! It really felt like being out on a date night, just with a fun third wheel wielding a camera.

Carrie and Andrew were a delight, and I can't wait to photograph their wedding soon.
