Brian & Rosemary’s 701 Whaley Wedding in Columbia, SC was a wedding that I have been looking forward to this season! 701 Whaley weddings are something special- that interior with all of it’s modern style, fun walls, and ALL of that light is just a dream for me. We got to enjoy the air conditioning and do all of our photos inside until post ceremony! One of the ONLY venues I can make this happen in! Take a peek at Brian and Rosemary’s 701 Whaley Wedding photos (just some of my faves!)

Spring 2017 has been a huge checker off of my wedding bucket list. In March I got to photograph a wedding in Washington DC (it’s here!), tomorrow I’m heading to Eastover for a Wavering Place wedding, and two Saturdays ago I photographed a wedding at Robert Mills House and Gardens! I have been anxiously (and impatiently) awaiting to book a bride who was planning a Robert Mills House and Gardens Wedding in Columbia, SC, so when Laura reached out from meeting me at a past wedding (Hi Ashley!) I was thrilled!!
Meet Kevin and Laura; a love story that shows that good things can come out of physical injuries! Laura is a physical therapist, Kevin was healing after a foot surgery, and here we are today! Laura and Kevin’s Robert Mills wedding day went off without a hitch (largely in part to her planner team, Overflow Events. Can’t say enough about brides who have a planner or at least a day of coordinator to make sure everything is running smoothly!). The weather was perfect! We started our day off at a local hotel, and I got to bring one of my closest Columbia friends along to be my second shooter! Melissa and I haven’t shot together in two YEARS because our schedules never work out, so having her was just so fun (and you’ll see a lot of shots of us in this post too!).
Without further ado, some of my favorite highlights from Kevin & Laura’s Robert Mills wedding!
When your last name is Rose, you HAVE to incorporate rose petals everywhere! Fun behind the scenes fact- Courtney with Overflow let me take home a ton of flowers after the wedding and I got to do things like this at home! It was so awesome because normally I can’t ever mess up flowers like this on the day of!
A bride after my own heart, Laura has her own Mrs. box with her initial monogrammed on it. This is such a perfect gift!
Here’s a shot of me taking the shot you just saw!
Using pretty Melissa as my light test..
Off to the venue!! But first… let me *TRY* to take a selfie.
The bridesmaids dresses were to DIE for. I was obsessed with the backs! You’ll see why soon!
Ohhhh Laura you are the most beautiful bride!!
Kevin got her a key, Laura’s maiden name is Keys! Laura, I’ll keep Kevin’s photo reveals private for you since your gift was you know, private haha. Just know you will smile!! Here’s the man of the hour!
Rose cufflinks. I see what you did there!
Is the Robert Mills House not gorgeous?? I’m in love with it. And the decor that Overflow Events set up! The cigar and bourbon bar was for Laura’s dad, and it was a hit! But enough about decor, let’s see Kevin and Laura get married!
I think he’s happy!!
So before this next set comes up, I want to mention why it was a keeper for me. I’m a big believer in God always showing up in His perfect timing, and I’m also a big believer in loved ones who have passed away being able to show us they are watching over us during important moments in our life. This ray of sun shone on Kevin and Laura like a spotlight. I don’t know if they noticed, I don’t know if anyone really did. But it was during Laura’s vows to Kevin, almost as if it were an approval of her promises, and of who he chose to be his partner. It was amazing, and I’m so glad I was able to grab it before it went away.
And to now stop being sappy, let’s get back into the celebration!
Round one of confetti: fail
Round two: success!
Laura’s dad hopped on stage with the band and KILLED the harmonica! It was amazing to watch!
Kevin & Laura: Thank you guys for having me. It has been such a fun time being a part of your planning process, and I hope it’s not the last time I see you guys!

Under an archway that was built from the columns of his late grandmother’s home, in the presence of probably the largest crowd I’ve ever seen, Ben married his bride Rachael. It was a warm sunny day in March in the small town of Harlem, Georgia just outside of Augusta. Rachael was called “the nicest person you’ll ever meet” by a friend and I couldn’t agree more that she is the sweetest and easiest bride! Ben calmed her pre-wedding jitters, and these guys had a GORGEOUS day full of family, friends and love!
You can see their engagement session HERE!
Rachael was a KNOCKOUT for her Lace House bridal portraits! That shoulder detail on that Justin Alexander gown killed me!
But now onto the big day! Here are some favorites from Ben & Rachael’s March 25th Georgia wedding at Whitaker Farm.
I’m standing on top of someones truck here! Not in the bed, ON THE TOP!
THANK YOU guys for being so wonderful! Pretty bummed to have this wedding done but I’m coming back to Georgia for another soon!

This Washington DC wedding was definitely a career highlight for me! Meet Hunter and Kay. Two lovebirds that live in Charlotte that took a chance on me and hired me to photograph their Washington DC wedding! Their wedding date was actually my BIRTHDAY! I had no expectation of anyone taking a moment to acknowledge it, but when my Uber dropped me off at the girl’s getting ready location, I walked into a Happy Birthday song from all of the bridesmaids and a card that everyone had signed! It made me feel SO loved and appreciated! What a good start to my day! Oh and the breakfast at the house I got to snack on didn’t hurt either!
Airbnb for the win!! This house was BEAUTIFUL!
After the girls were ready, we called an Uber and headed to our first stop, the Jefferson Memorial! If you haven’t seen the session I did there the day before the wedding, you can check it out here! This is the spot where Hunter and Kay will read letters to each other, and see each other for the first time!!
Hunter caught me and came in with the prom pose, haha!
Bring in the wedding party!
Hey random stranger, you get your picture too!
Now it’s off to the Capitol building! Wedding photos at the US Capitol have been something I’ve always wanted to have, and we DID it! Fun fact, we got in the wrong Uber. Woops!
Cherry Blossom season in DC was interrupted by a snow earlier in the week, but we found a few blooms here and there! It’s still awesome to have a Washington DC wedding, even without them 🙂
Now it’s off to get married! On the Uber ride to the venue, Hunter mentioned that he never had the opportunity to introduce Kay to anyone new as his fiance. He introduced her to the Uber driver as his fiance the hour before he married her!, it was his last chance I swear these guys are so sweet.
Is the Loft at 600 F GORGEOUS or what? Hunter and Kay actually MADE all of these candles out of wine bottles! They were a gift to each guest!
It’s time to get married!
After some family photos outside, the party began.
Thank you guys for such a magical day and for bringing me up from good ol South Carolina to document it, it was SUCH an honor and will forever be a career highlight for me! Thank you for remembering my birthday, for taking portraits for so long and for getting in so many Ubers hahaha. You guys are the best. Special thanks to the vendors:

What a beautiful start to my spring wedding season! This Legare Waring House wedding was everything I could have dreamed! So many Charleston wedding vendors pulled out ALL the stops for this wedding day! From the Modern Trousseau dress that allowed Allison to have two completely different wedding day looks, to the beautiful design and decor by Elm Events. Stay tuned for spanish moss, so many florals, and Chris’s sweet reaction to seeing his bride come down the aisle!
Bring on the beautiful portraits! Scans by Richard Photo Lab.
We had a massive amount of flower petals on the ground, so I had to snap one where we threw them in the air!
This Legare Waring house wedding day was just a dream to photograph, Roadside Blooms did an amazing number on this cross! It created a beautiful backdrop for Chris & Allison’s ceremony under the oaks.
And I’m SO excited to show you guys this concept! Candlefish came and setup a candle bar for cocktail hour! The guests got to smell the favorites of the bride and groom, and take a candle of their choice home as a wedding favor! This was SUCH a big hit! (And I got to grab one too- it smells AMAZING).
It’s wedding time! You’d think with Allison and Chris having a first look, there’d be no emotion coming down the aisle… that’s the OPPOSITE!! I don’t know who cried first, Chris or his dad, but once one did the other followed suit!
Now it’s time to start the party!
THANK YOU to Chris & Allison for choosing me to photograph your Legare Waring House Wedding! When I say it was a dream, I really do mean it!

Cat and Patrick are quirky, classic, and totally silly. They are just good people to know, and their friends are amazing. They wanted their Lace House Wedding day to be timeless and simple, and handed the reigns to Cricket Newman Designs. They were married on an October Saturday at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion and Lace House grounds. The bridesmaids had complete freedom with their dresses- the only rule was “keep it neutral”! Sticking with the neutral theme, the bouquets and greenery popped with white and lush greens, as did the cake (made by Patrick’s mom!). These two were married by their friends under a floral arch and danced the night away in the courtyard under the cafe lights. Enjoy the photos of their Lace House wedding!

I first met Rachel and Daniel at a local coffeeshop in Lexington. Soon after I got the “We want you!” confirmation and jumped for joy because I have not yet photographed a Riverbanks Zoo gardens wedding! I knew the zoo botanical gardens were going to make amazing photos for a wedding and I was just so excited that not only did I get the chance to work in there, but it was with Rachel and Guster!
Rachel and Guster met in Greenville through mutual Clemson friends (their alma mater- and pretty sure the alma mater of ALL of their friends at the reception!). After dating for over four years, Daniel decided it was time to put a ring on it. He took Rachel on a vacation to Hilton Head Island where he proposed on the beach. Rachel said YES and they planned their gorgeous Riverbanks Botanical Garden wedding within a few months! This wedding had so many special pieces, between the sweets bar which was a family tradition on the groom’s side, the AMAZING naked cake by Sweet Carolina Cakes, Rachel’s flowers in her hair, her Cinderella-inspired dress, and the backdrop of their ceremony. It was a beautiful wedding day! Here are some of my favorites!
