Robert Mills House and Gardens Wedding in Columbia, SC
Spring 2017 has been a huge checker off of my wedding bucket list. In March I got to photograph a wedding in Washington DC (it's here!), tomorrow I'm heading to Eastover for a Wavering Place wedding, and two Saturdays ago I photographed a wedding at Robert Mills House and Gardens! I have been anxiously (and impatiently) awaiting to book a bride who was planning a Robert Mills House and Gardens Wedding in Columbia, SC, so when Laura reached out from meeting me at a past wedding (Hi Ashley!) I was thrilled!!Meet Kevin and Laura; a love story that shows that good things can come out of physical injuries! Laura is a physical therapist, Kevin was healing after a foot surgery, and here we are today! Laura and Kevin's Robert Mills wedding day went off without a hitch (largely in part to her planner team, Overflow Events. Can't say enough about brides who have a planner or at least a day of coordinator to make sure everything is running smoothly!). The weather was perfect! We started our day off at a local hotel, and I got to bring one of my closest Columbia friends along to be my second shooter! Melissa and I haven't shot together in two YEARS because our schedules never work out, so having her was just so fun (and you'll see a lot of shots of us in this post too!).Without further ado, some of my favorite highlights from Kevin & Laura's Robert Mills wedding! When your last name is Rose, you HAVE to incorporate rose petals everywhere! Fun behind the scenes fact- Courtney with Overflow let me take home a ton of flowers after the wedding and I got to do things like this at home! It was so awesome because normally I can't ever mess up flowers like this on the day of!A bride after my own heart, Laura has her own Mrs. box with her initial monogrammed on it. This is such a perfect gift! Here's a shot of me taking the shot you just saw!Using pretty Melissa as my light test..Off to the venue!! But first... let me *TRY* to take a selfie. The bridesmaids dresses were to DIE for. I was obsessed with the backs! You'll see why soon!Ohhhh Laura you are the most beautiful bride!!Kevin got her a key, Laura's maiden name is Keys! Laura, I'll keep Kevin's photo reveals private for you since your gift was you know, private haha. Just know you will smile!! Here's the man of the hour!Rose cufflinks. I see what you did there! Is the Robert Mills House not gorgeous?? I'm in love with it. And the decor that Overflow Events set up! The cigar and bourbon bar was for Laura's dad, and it was a hit! But enough about decor, let's see Kevin and Laura get married!I think he's happy!!So before this next set comes up, I want to mention why it was a keeper for me. I'm a big believer in God always showing up in His perfect timing, and I'm also a big believer in loved ones who have passed away being able to show us they are watching over us during important moments in our life. This ray of sun shone on Kevin and Laura like a spotlight. I don't know if they noticed, I don't know if anyone really did. But it was during Laura's vows to Kevin, almost as if it were an approval of her promises, and of who he chose to be his partner. It was amazing, and I'm so glad I was able to grab it before it went away. And to now stop being sappy, let's get back into the celebration!Round one of confetti: failRound two: success!LET'S DANCE!Laura's dad hopped on stage with the band and KILLED the harmonica! It was amazing to watch!Kevin & Laura: Thank you guys for having me. It has been such a fun time being a part of your planning process, and I hope it's not the last time I see you guys!Special thanks to:Venue: Robert MillsPlanner and florist: Overflow EventsBride’s dress: Stella YorkDress store: Wedding InspirationsBridesmaid’s dresses: Hayley Paige OccassionsBridesmaid’s dress store: Bella BridesmaidsCatering: Hudson's Classic CateringCookies: Collage CookiesCake: Maid of honor, Beth PenickPhotographer: Jessica RobertsBand: Travis Allison BandHair: Stacy MitchellMakeup: Kimberly Asiia HallRings: Moseley Diamond ShowcaseRentals: Party ReflectionsInvitations: Minted
