Spring Charleston Wedding | The Dewberry

This stunning wedding at the Dewberry Hotel in the heart of Charleston, SC, is one I won't soon forget. The couple and Evan Walker Peacock put together to most stunning and sophisticated day for the bride and groom and all their guests. It was a joy to be a part of!

The Backstory

Shelby said she and David always joke that they knew when they decided to "DTR" (Define The Relationship for you old folk) two days after their first date, their relationship would be a strong one. She said they were almost immediately serious and part of each other's lives instantly.

I'm so glad they trusted their instincts on this one because knowing them together feels just about as right as it gets. After David took a job out of state their first summer, they saw the path ahead and knew they'd be doing life together from here on out. Little did they know that would mean braving the pandemic together in a 600 sq ft apartment. But that's a story for another time.

Their Wedding Day

Dripping in the richest hues of rust, dusty blue, hunter green, and gold, these two brought together some of the best in the industry to spoil their guests for the evening.

Petaloso completely blew us away with their design, and the tableware in the shade of the most stunning colors was so beautiful as the sun went down. Don't even get me started on the most breathtaking cake from The Tenacious Tart. It was every bit as delicious as it was beautiful, and I love when clients put thought and intention into this part of their day. The details really do matter!

Shelby wore her grandmother's hummingbird pin in her hair and carried her monogrammed clutch. She and her grandmother had the same monogram, and she was known for her love of hummingbirds. Shelby told me she always had loads of feeders all over her house, so she wanted to honor her memory.

David's ring was also made from gold from one of his late grandmother's rings. There was even enough leftover that he could make a necklace for his sister. It was an apple blossom pendant and the most thoughtful reminder of the road they grew up on.

Portraits and Pups

The portraits from this wedding were some of my favorite images from the day. The light was so stunning, and "Phil the Dog" even made the sweetest appearance during the couple's first look. I LOVE when clients include their pups in their sessions, and this cutie really put on a show.

To end the night, the couple timed their cocktail hour to end around sunset on the rooftop. There were amazing views of Charleston and the harbor, and I can't think of a better way to end an evening!
